The history of Fort Greene Festival has a history of headliners artists like Betty Carter, Robert Redford, Spike Lee, Erykah Badu, Rosie Perez and Mos Def whose talents were developed in the area. There are many lesser-known artists still living, working and performing today in the neighborhood.

There are also many film and video students from Pratt Institue who dorm and choose to continue to live in Fort Greene after graduation. Although Steiner Studios is a newcomer to the scene, it is nonetheless, aptly located to benefit from an established artistic population.

The connection that everyone can be a star will be clear in the performances of the day: the headliners will be models for the up-and-coming artists. This theme will be enhanced in a specific tent featuring the "Fort Greene Archives of Artists".
